#43 About Quebec’s education system

前回に引き続き、カナダの教育制度についてですが、今回は Yuki が住んでいるケベック州の教育制度を掘り下げてお話しています。

Education system

  • In order to qualify for English instruction in Quebec public schools, students must meet the eligibility criteria set out by the Quebec government.
    • private school：私立学校
    • public school：公立学校
  • Cegep is the equivalent of the last year of high school and the first year of university, exclusive to the province of Quebec’s education system.
    • Pre-university program, two years (typically Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, or Arts)
    • Professional program, three years (e.g. Paralegal, Dental Hygienist, Nursing, etc.)
  • garderie（0-5歳）/ pre-kinder（4歳）/ kinder（5歳）/ maternelle → primary → secondary → cegep → university
  • Immersion education is a bilingual education system in which all academic subjects are taught in a target language such as French.
    • immerse：浸す
    • Anglophone　（複数言語が使用される地域での）英語話者
    • Francophone　（複数言語が使用される地域での）フランス語話者
